Explicit Faith guitarist Benn Bane was born in Harrisonburg,
Guitar lessons began in high school. Benn recalls, “I started jamming as a teenager, one of my biggest influences was Nirvana.” Benn preferred the heavier, metal sound prevalent during the early to mid 1990s citing other influences such as El Nino, Green Day, and System of a Down. Benns chords and riffs were influenced by this style of music.
Music continued to be an important part of Benns life after high school. He became involved with local rock band Saint Diablo and Christian rock band Left Lane Ends. Benn spent time touring with these bands and made trips to the west coast and the southern states helping with equipment setup. During this time, Benn began collecting guitars. In 2004, Benn returned to Hardy County,
Dusty Landacre was aware of Benns experience on the road and his passion for guitar playing. When Explicit Faith began, Benn agreed to help the project as the lighting and effects coordinator. At a rehearsal one evening, Benn brought one of his guitars and played along with the band. It was soon realized that depth was added to the sound with the additional guitar. Arrangements were made to include Benn in the group and Explicit Faith grew into a 5-piece band.
